Lake Fork Pro Guide Marc MitchellSubmitted: 11-09-09
Nov can be a great month to catch lots of fish and have a few big ones in the mix. Now the rain and high waters have gone you can bet the fish will get back to doing what they been doing before all this crazy weather. Now temps can make a big difference this month with low temps at night this will affect the topwater bite big time. If the water temp in the mornings hang around 70 degrees topwater action is usually very good. High 60's are ok but nothing like the 70+ range. Now grass is good all month from main lake to in the pockets but some of the bigger bass will be around the main lake stuff. Points, flats, and ditches are very good places. Pockets with deep water are good also. Now as for as baits I like in Nov well for numbers you cannot beat a lipless crank baits in chrome/blue in a 1/2 oz. I like these baits in clearer water but red/orange in the dirtier water. Best depths can be from 2-5 on warm days to 6-8 on cooler days just keep the bait above the grass. Spinner baits, chatter baits are also good around the same areas and chart/white 3/8 oz are the colors that work best. Flukes, shadee shads are good on top of the deeper grass if the fish are not chasing the baits above. Watermelon red, and glimmer blue and white are the best colors. Just slow down and you will catch them. Now here are my list of bottom baits I like this time of year. Carolina rigs are good with french fry's and mag finesse and watermelon red or anything close seems to work. Viper XP Jigs in a 3/8 oz are good in sourgrape and purple passion worked around points and ditches with grass/timber mix. I hope this helps you on your next trip to Lake Fork.
